Olex to supply cable for new Melbourne showpiece

Olex have recently been awarded an order for the supply of approximately $3.6 million worth of cables for the development of the Melbourne Convention Centre.
The new Convention Centre is the single largest commercial project currently under development in Melbourne. The strength of Olex in providing not only a competitive commercial package but also a unique value add offer consisting of cable & drum management proved to be the catalyst in being awarded this prized contract.
Olex will supply a range of cables for the project, including 13,000m of 240mmm2 and 150mm2 Pyrolex, and 38,000m of 240mm2, 185mm2 and 95mm2 XLPE cable.
The development is part of a $1.1 billion project between the Victorian Government and Plenary Group, which will include a:
- 5000 seat convention centre
- 5 star Hilton hotel
- new Maritime Museum
- lifestyle retail precinct and 60,000m2 of shopping
The electrical work for this project will be undertaken by Elecraft, and the centre is due to open in 2009.
