Olex supplies cable for new Melbourne Convention Centre

Olex, through major Victorian contractor Elecraft, have supplied approximately $2.5 million of cable over the past two years for the new Melbourne Convention Centre and Hilton Hotel Complex at the South Wharf Precinct.

The development is part of a $1.1 billion project between the Victorian Government and Plenary Group, which will include a:

  • 5000 seat convention centre
  • 5 star Hilton hotel
  • new Maritime Museum
  • lifestyle retail precinct and 60,000m2 of shopping

Cables were supplied in vast quantities over the 2 years of construction, consisting of our TPS ranges through to our new flexible fire rated product. The majority of product was large size XLPE single cores and fire rated single cores used for mains and submains.

The building is due to be officially opened in mid 2009.
