Olex CEO receives Honour Roll Award
02 Jul 2007
Olex Managing Director & CEO, Andrew Stobart, recently received an Honour Roll award at the 2007 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame awards.
The award was presented by Mr Theo Theophanous, Minister for Industry and State Development, who congratulated companies and individuals for their contributions to Victoria’s state economy and international reputation.
Mr. Stobart was recognised for his outstanding contribution to Victorian manufacturing. Mr Theophanous said that Olex, a Nexans Company, with factories in Lilydale and Tottenham, was Australia’s leading producer of energy cable and a major exporter into China and Asia-Pacific.
“Andrew Stobart’s belief in the company was so strong, that as an employee he led a management buyout in 1999 prior to its subsequent purchase by Nexans, the world’s largest cable company. Since then, Andrew Stobart has seen the company grow so it now employs 1,000 people and produces revenues over $700 million”, Mr Theophanous said.
Launched in 2001 by the Victorian Government to celebrate manufacturing excellence in Victoria, the Manufacturing Hall of Fame recognises the most innovative and successful companies and individuals. Up to now, 11 individuals have been inducted into the Hall of Fame Honour Roll.
