Energy Cutting Facility now open

17 Apr 2007

New cable winding and cutting equipment at the Olex NSW Energy Cutting Facility has recently begun operating with performance already exceeding expectations.

The new equipment was commissioned to fulfil requirements of the Olex contract with EnergyAustralia. Already there has been a noticeable improvement in DIFOT (Delivery In Full & On Time) as bulk drums of cable are held in readiness and are cut to length as required for same or following day delivery into EnergyAustralia’s Chullora Warehouse and a number of their NSW Field Services Centres.

Prior to the new facility opening at the Olex Wetherill Park distribution centre, these cutting and winding functions were carried out at the Tottenham factory in Victoria. This facility will now not only benefit EnergyAustralia but also other NSW customers.

The equipment comprises three pay-off and one mobile take-up stand. These machines have the capacity to comfortable handle 2.8m diameter x 1.1m wide steel drums loaded with 3.5 tonnes of medium voltage cable.
