Connecting EastLink with Olex cables

07 Aug 2007

Olex have provided over $3 million worth of cable for the EastLink project, currently under construction in Victoria.

EastLink, Australia’s largest road project at $3.8 billion, is a 45km freeway incorporating 85 bridges that will link the current Eastern Freeway at Donvale in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs to the existing Frankston Freeway on the Mornington Peninsula.

Olex have not only provided a range of cables for the project including XLPE, orange circulars and multi-core cables, but have also worked closely with Thiess John Holland and United Group to ensure adequate cable management for the project. Olex organised for all cable to be delivered to a central holding yard where they were cut to size and ready for distribution to any point along the site. This process ensured that the cable was able to be distributed quickly and with minimum delay.

Construction of the freeway commenced in January 2005 and is due for completion in late 2008.
